About From Spark to Fire
Counseling & Supervision

Our Philosophy

At From Spark to Fire Counseling & Supervision, we firmly believe that counseling is for everyone. It is an honest, open collaboration between a client and a therapist, whether in-person or virtually. Our aim is to work alongside you in a judgment-free environment as you address the issues you wish to tackle. We are here to guide and support you, helping you move towards a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life.

Counseling can sometimes feel uncomfortable, and feeling overwhelmed is a common challenge. However, counseling is fundamentally about growth—living more authentically by shedding the defenses and survival responses developed over time. While therapy can be a powerful tool for relieving stress and burdens, it may require effort and commitment to achieve lasting change.

This journey is often a transformative, life-changing experience, and we are honored that you are considering us to support and guide you through life’s challenges, both individually and in your relationships. If you choose to contact us, know that we will be in this together.

What Will Your First Session Be Like?

Your first session at From Spark to Fire Counseling & Supervision is an opportunity for you and your therapist to start building a connection. We will review the electronic administrative forms you’ve completed, such as the privacy policy, intake questionnaire, and clients’ rights. During this time, we’ll discuss expectations, address any questions you may have, and delve into what’s currently on your mind.

Your therapist will focus on gathering essential information to tailor the sessions to meet your therapeutic needs. It may take a couple of sessions to collect all the necessary details. By the end of the first session, you’ll be reminded that attendance is entirely your choice. We will discuss your feelings about the session and collaborate with you on a plan for moving forward. Whether you decide to schedule a second session immediately or prefer to reflect first, rest assured, the decision is always yours.

Bobby Finnegan

Bobby Finnegan,
LPC Associate

Hi, I’m Bobby.
I became a therapist because I believe in the power of being truly seen and understood.

My approach is story-focused and integrative. We’ll look at your whole experience, not just symptoms or problems, but the context, patterns, and meaning. I’m person-centered, which means you’re the expert on your life. I’m here to help you understand it better and move forward in ways that feel authentic to you.

I’m LGBTQIA+ affirming and very comfortable working with clients exploring non-traditional relationship structures, including polyamory. You don’t need to over-explain or justify your identity, relationships, or experiences here.

I’m straightforward, non-judgmental, and genuinely interested in who you are. I look forward to getting to know you!

LPC Associate

I’m Tyler, a psychodynamic therapist, Black woman, and recovering perfectionist. I believe therapy should feel like a relationship, not a performance. I offer honest, attuned, emotionally deep work for clients who are tired of holding it all in and ready to feel something real.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and experiential therapy, with a focus on attachment, identity, and relational trauma. I care about what happened in your past—but even more about how it’s showing up in your present: in your relationships, your inner voice, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself. Together, we’ll untangle those patterns with warmth, curiosity, and just the right amount of challenge.

Clients who work with me say they feel seen. Not just listened to, but felt with. I show up fully—soft when you need safety, direct when you need truth. There’s room in therapy with me for grief, for anger, for laughter, and for the parts of you that never got to be real.

I specialize in working with women who’ve been performing for love their whole lives—perfectionists, people-pleasers, and daughters of emotionally unavailable or critical parents. My goal is to help you stop performing, start feeling, and become who you were always meant to be.

Curious about starting therapy? I offer free 15-minute video consults so you can get a feel for what it’s like to work together.

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” — Carl Jung

We all struggle with internal and external issues that can lead to anxiety, depression, and a myriad of other mental and physical problems. These issues can make us feel isolated, lonely, and stuck. Counseling offers help with navigating problems related to current and past trauma and mental health difficulties. It is easy to get stuck in repetitive patterns of behavior. Counseling helps individuals learn the skills and tools needed to peel back layers of trauma, bring down walls that inhibit connection, and work towards healing. Using a tailored approach for each of my clients, I work hard to help you unravel past issues and tackle current physical and mental challenges. Counseling can be raw and messy, but it can also be beautiful and rewarding. It helps you unbind from cycles of avoidance and patterns that have kept you stuck and unhappy.

I was drawn to counseling because of my desire to help people as well as my own personal struggles. I have been through counseling myself and done the hard work; now I get to enjoy the rewards, and I am able to experience life with a renewed sense of joy and wonder. This personal work and life experience, combined with my education in counseling theories and techniques, helps me be a better counselor for my clients.

I enjoy working with individuals of varying ages, couples, and adolescents. I have worked with people who struggle with disabilities, and I have personal experience navigating our healthcare system. I have been happily married for 24 years, and I am also a queer individual who understands the difficulties that the LGBTQIA+ community faces. If you choose me to be your therapist, you can expect to work on creating more self-connection, getting relief from overwhelming emotions and issues, fostering healing, and creating meaningful change in your life. Whatever issues you are facing, I am here for you!

I would love to talk with you and see if we are a good fit! Let’s schedule an initial appointment!

Greg Dean Phelps, LPC Associate

Greg Dean Phelps,
LPC Associate

I’m a licensed therapist (LPC-Associate) focusing on adult individuals struggling with symptoms like anxiety, depression, and a lack of meaning or purpose. My background includes existential, relational, psychoanalytical, and person-centered theories. I also have experience with parts work and attachment theory, and am always learning about other evidence-based methods.

In my experience, most clients come to therapy for one or more of these reasons:

  • To free themselves from unhelpful patterns, beliefs, or behaviors.
  • To reduce their suffering, isolation, or loneliness.
  • To discover how to live more fully and meaningfully in the present.
  • To improve, form, or repair relationships.
  • To find a new calling or meaning in life.

Some clients may already have a previous diagnosis, like anxiety, depression, or ADHD, and are looking to try a new approach. Others may be unsure and simply know that they need something to change.

I specialize in working with men, but I enjoy working with adults of all backgrounds who are seeking a male therapist. My personal experiences with psychotherapy also make me a good fit for people who want a therapist who understands struggles like career changes, self-hatred, or sexuality and identity concerns.

I can incorporate humor in my work (thanks to my training and background in comedy) and have had success using methods like narrative therapy and role-playing when appropriate. If you’re a creative, artist, or performer, my experience in that field may come in handy.

If you think we might be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out today.

I am here to support you through it all. My approach to therapy is holistic and collaborative. I believe we are all a sum of our experiences and identities that shape who we are and how we interact with the world around us. When we build compassion for ourselves and discover our strengths, we can grow to face obstacles and meet our goals. I incorporate humor and creativity to build a safe space to work. I work with young adults, around ages 19 to 30, navigating life transitions. I have a passion for working with females who struggle to manage symptoms of ADHD and anxiety. Additionally, I have a background in working with individuals of all ages and identities who struggle with substance use. My goal is to help you stop seeing yourself in deficits and instead focus on your strengths and what makes you unique, so you can live life feeling free and at peace.

Whatever you are going through, I will be right there with you. I would love to set up a time to meet with you.

Lisa Dunavin, LPC Associate

Lisa Dunavin,
LPC Associate

I believe everyone deserves and is within reach of a fulfilling life. What stands in the way may be external or internal, current issues or past traumas, conscious or beneath conscious thought. It commonly manifests as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, a distorted sense of self, and questioning one’s purpose in this world. I became a therapist to help others navigate these obstacles and realize a healthy, authentic life with a sense of hope for today and tomorrow.

In my work with adults of all ages, couples, and adolescents, I have seen how therapy can open doors and change lives. I practice a holistic, person-centered approach to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship that aligns with each client’s specific needs. I integrate techniques from various therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, CBT, EMDR, strengths-based therapy, trauma-informed therapy, existential therapy, and others that help us navigate together what is keeping you stuck in a place of pain, frustration, or discontent.

My work as a therapist and decades of life experiences have given me a profound sense of curiosity and respect for both the uniqueness and similarities of each person I meet. I consider our work together an opportunity to move forward in a way that positively impacts the world, starting with our small piece of it.

Sharleen Rivera, LPC Associate

Sharleen Rivera,
LPC Associate

Hi! My name is Sharleen Rivera, a master’s in clinical psychology, LPC-Associate, bilingual in English and Spanish, who values working with all types of clients navigating through life’s challenges. My clinical style is informed by psychoanalytic and psychodynamic perspectives, while also integrating DBT and narrative therapy to support both deeper understanding and practical, lasting change. My aim is to create a space where curiosity feels safe, wonder is welcomed, and the questions you have carried for a long time can finally be explored. Outside of therapy, I love rainy days, double espressos, classic literature, time with my ferrets, Toblerone (Toby) and Cyenna, shopping at stationery stores for the perfect notebook, and collecting fountain pens and inks!

Dina El Masri, LPC Associate

Dina El Masri,
LPC Associate

Hi, I’m Dina. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, relationship stress, life transitions, and patterns that can feel difficult to change. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something different, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Therapy with me is a space to slow down, gain clarity, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. I don’t see people as problems to be fixed, but as individuals with strengths that may need to be rediscovered or strengthened. My approach is warm and collaborative, drawing from CBT, trauma-informed care, and Gottman-informed techniques to help you build stronger boundaries, deepen self-understanding, and create more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others.

Christopher Linkenbach, LPC Associate

Christopher Linkenbach,
LPC Associate

I believe every person has the capacity to live a meaningful and authentic life. Often, what gets in the way are the wounds we carry, whether from past trauma, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, or a deep questioning of purpose. These struggles can leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who we truly are. My approach weaves together Jungian depth psychology, somatic practices, and mindfulness. I specialize in working with men and those seeking to reconnect with their inner strength, heal old patterns, and create space for growth. I became a therapist because I know the power of having a safe and supportive place to face what feels overwhelming and to discover a renewed sense of hope and possibility for today and tomorrow.
