Tyler Ricks, LPC Associate

I’m Tyler — a psychodynamic therapist, Black woman, and recovering perfectionist. I believe therapy should feel like a relationship, not a performance. I offer honest, attuned, emotionally deep work for clients who are tired of holding it all in and ready to feel something real.
My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and experiential therapy, with a focus on attachment, identity, and relational trauma. I care about what happened in your past — but even more about how it’s showing up in your present: in your relationships, your inner voice, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself. Together, we’ll untangle those patterns with warmth, curiosity, and just the right amount of challenge.
Clients who work with me say they feel seen. Not just listened to, but felt with. I show up fully — soft when you need safety, direct when you need truth. There’s room in therapy with me for grief, for anger, for laughter, and for the parts of you that never got to be real.
I specialize in working with women who’ve been performing for love their whole lives — perfectionists, people-pleasers, and daughters of emotionally unavailable or critical parents. My goal is to help you stop performing, start feeling, and become who you were always meant to be.
